sagacious
Hello guys im new here an have a bunch of questions.I just bought a hot pot 2 for pouring lead.I have about 10 pounds of old slip weight lead can i melt an use this? Yes, that lead should work fine. Also if i melt 1 oz of lead what do you typically loose? If I understand your question, I don't 'lose' any lead. Once you've read the two stickies at the top of this forum and learned the correct melting practices, you shouldn't either. If you prefer expedience over knowledge, you'll suffer worse frustrations than a little lost lead. Ive been painting for a year now an am pretty good.Id like to start making my own muskie baits.thankyou very much with your help.Tim Hope this helps. Good luck, be safe. Termite
Remember your saftey percautions. I wear a face sheild, it don't fog and glasses or goggles don't protect your mug, only your eyes so I go for the sheild to block any type of hot debries from my face. I also have welding gloves and wear one on my mold holding hand. When you melt old lead be sure to flux your lead and it will turn out awesome, read about that in the stickies. Good luck! Termite
Sorry Sometimes after playing with forums for many, many years one forgets what it is like to be "new". "Sticky" topics can be found on most forums and are threads (discussions) that moderators feel are important so they set them up so they are always at the top of a topic page ("stick to the top of the page"). If you go back to the main "wire baits" forum you will see at the top two "stickies" One is on lead saftey and one is on fluxing lead. They will always be at the top of the page unless they are deemed no longer useful and taken off the sticky list. Hope this helps.
