New Grass Jig Molds from Do It...

Recommended Posts

BigTimeBuzzer,

I see the new Brush Jig, but not a new Grass Jig. Can you give an item number from their site?

TJ, when this jig first came out before the catalog, it was advertised as a grass jig. It is on pg 24 of the new Do-It catalog, on the bottom of the pg. It's now called a Weedless Casting Jig. Hope this helps.

The molds I am referring to is: SMJ-3-SF and the SMJ-3-MF models. It's a new weedless grass jig they just came out with.

My friend has this mold, and I looked at it. It is a cross between a bullet bass jig and Snootie Jig. Actually it uses the same Mustad hook as the Bullet Bass Jig. I guess it's an alright jig, but since I have the other two, I probably will borrow this when I need it, instead of buying it. He said it pours fine.

Cad,

Since you have seen it, is it flat on the bottom like a snootie is? I am trying to come up with a head close to one that is not made anymore without going the custom mold route. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Good Fishin'....BTB

You know I didn't see any jigs that were physically poured, but looking at the mold, yes it looked like the Snootie.

***Maybe some of you guys who have this mold can post a pic, or PM Big Time Buzzer and help him out.***

BTB, you can also PM TTDuckman (Tim) on this thread several posts up. I know he will help you out, good guy.

It is closer to the bullet head the anything else. It is really close to what I would call a bullet head with recessed eyes and a decent grub keeper on it. Not flat spots on it. It has a skirt ring and then a single barb keeper. The pull point on this jig is essentially just above center. Mine pours well in 1/8th with 3/0 49/50, but my 1/4 oz with 4/0 I haven't quite figured out, about 35/50. I can pour poison tails all day long without a problem (which tends to be a bit of struggle for some), but for some reason I am getting a little flash (really not significant, but an aggrevation) that I have yet to figure out. Using the stock hook they prefer rather than the light wire that I really want to be able to use. I am going to check out a couple things before I modify mine to take the lighter hook, but flashing before going to a light wire hook is getting me a little frustrated.
