HAWGHUNNA
What do I need to pour my jig trailers with to make them buoyant/float? And where do I get some? Thanks, Terry
daveh
all the plastic we use floats. leave the salt out. bears baits, delmart, lurecraft and MF all have great plastic.
HAWGHUNNA
Thanks daveh, I finally did the correct word search and found what I was looking for,I've used 10 gallons of M.F (5 med./5 super soft) Plastic over the last year, great stuff. I'm wanting my trailers to REALLY FLOAT,so I'm gonna give the M.F float bubbles a shot. I'll go back and read some earlier post, but,if anyone that has used it lately, wants to post some advise here....I would certainly appreciate it. JDBaits
If your gonna use the floating bubbles be sure to use a respirator, I hear they are a PIA work with and very hazardous. You might want to look into Del's floating plastic which is already premixed into plastic and from the sounds of it isn't as bad. Richard Prager
I've tried a sample of the glass microspheres M-F sent me. I went as high as double the suggested dose and it still really wouldn't float a frog with a 5/0 hook. It's very difficult to work with as the material is almost lighter than air. You pretty much have to hold your breath or you will blow them away! I found it too much hassle to bother with it anymore. For a jig trailer, regular plastic without flake or salt should make it want to stand up.
daveh
i make a lot of trailers. i use lc 502. without salt the trailer floats and has some great action. the large chunck mold from del is my favorate and the chunck just about lifts the jig off the bottom. HAWGHUNNA
Daveh, How about a pic of one of your floating trailers attached to a jig in a jar of water, with trailer not touching the sides? I would like to see how well the plastic lifts the jig,I'm interested in pouring some very buoyant jig trailers, and want to be certain about product. P.S...Anybody tried Del's floating plastic? Thanks, Terry Edited February 5, 2009 by HAWGHUNNA
