cintaskevin
hi guys, I just ordered 5 gallons of Lurecraft Medium to pour some swimbaits (Baby E, small Osprey, etc). Should I have got the saltwater plastic instead? Thanks in advance!
gunnie3035
Nope, I actually use Calhouns soft. I've even been know to use MF super soft on those type of baits too. The smaller the bait the softer you want to go. Just depends on what type of action you want vs. retrieve speed......
cintaskevin
Thanks for the response Gunnie. I've been using MF Super Soft and they are really nice but I'm looking for a bait that I can burn a little faster. The baits I made out of the Super Soft kick really good but I have to fish them very slow.
Delw
Kevin if your going to burn the 5" ones in you will need to run the salt water plastic the 500 regular will work pretty good for most swimbaits. Super soft(536) is way to soft for for the baby e style, at a slow roll the tail is too eratic to were it moves so fast you dont see it moving. the 500 will give you good vibration with but will wiggle semi fast, the hard will allow the tail to move slowed at very high speed retrieves. but might be a tad to hard. might want to add a little bit of hardened to the 500. When I say "burning in" I am using a 6:1-1 reels and reeling as fast as I can, like with rattle traps and and skinny dippers Crawling a baby e style bait with with soft( not super soft) plastic gives you a perfect action. to were it actually looks real in the water.
