I'm sure you could probably teach me a thing or two about tackle, tackle making, line tying, and fishing in general, but c'mon, give the guy a break.

Fish_N_Fool presented a knot last year for us to look at. Personally, I like the polamar knot, I have way to many thumbs for the fish_n_fool knot and so far the polamar hasn't failed me. But it appeared Fish_N_Fool had a serious knot. The original post was read by a lot of readers and there were several comments. I don't remember anything negative.

About a year went by and we hear that his knot was going to be on Knot Wars. Fish_N_Fool was as excited as if it was his kid in the Olympics. I totally understood his enthusiasm. When nobody jumped up to congratulate him he came back and basically said "Hey, what's up? Every time someone posts a new bait people come out of the woodwork to congratulate him/her." Fish_N_Fool made it to the big time and just wanted a little recognition.

So you've tied his knot in the past, big deal. You've found a reference to your claim that Fish_N_Fool's knot was already in use somewhere, so what. Do you think that the first person to come up with the idea of the wheel is the guy that got credit for it? Who knows. The fact remains the wheel is a great invention. Nobody made any money on the concept but it's still a great concept. Fish_N_Fool isn't trying to make money on the knot and he even acknowledged that it was a variation of something already out there. It stands to reason that someone else may have been tying it. But did they share it with anyone? Maybe a fishing budy or two. Fish_N_Fool shared it with as many people as modern technology allowed. If it were me, I'd be just as excited. Give the guy a break. If you don't like the attention he's getting come back after his fifteen minutes is up.

Sorry to rant but Fish_N_Fool deserves credit for bringing a great knot to the masses. Baitshop Bill, you sound like you're just trying to say, "Hey look at me, too." First you have to add something positive. Show us something we can use. Fish_N_Fool may even be among those patting you on the back.:twocents:

I hope this doesn't get me kicked off the forum. If it does, let me apologize before I'm gone and say thanks for all I've learned. I've enjoyed learning from some great teachers.

First off;

I would like to say thank you to all of you that have given well wishes.

I am very grateful to T.U. for being able to share my knot with the other T.U. members when I posted this here a year or so ago. I have been a long time member here at T.U. going on 6 years plus some I think and have always posted general info that I thought might help somebody. If it hadn't been for my post here at T.U. I would not be getting all the publicity I'm getting now. Plus it's nice to know that Steve pennaz from the N. American Fishing Club comes here to T.U. for his info, since this is the only place I have had this posted in the last year, since I shut my website down. So now the good news.

I have been called by almost every newspaper in the area who want to do stories about me and my knot, I have been called by Outdoor sporting shows that want me to come speak and demonstrate my knot. I'm doing a local show this weekend "The Outdoor Sporting Expo" here in N. Idaho at the Sandpoint, Id. fairgrounds. I spoke at a local bass club tonight about my knot and the upcoming show on TV and the Expo. One of the members was a guy from Cabela's near here and he asked me to speak at a fishing seminar they have coming up in a few weeks. So for me life is good and I really owe it all to TU.

Now my only comment to B.S. Bill is I developed this knot 4 years ago and have been telling people about ever since. I have not promoted it in any way other then putting it out in public domain for all to use, even you. The Folks at N. American fisherman took my knot and used it without me even knowing they did till I saw it on TV. My Fish-N-Fool knot is a modified uni knot like I said in my original post if you bothered to read it. The knot you showed in that post is not a Uni knot. A true Uni has one wrap on the hook and 4 wraps around the loop. What is shown on that page is a Fish-N-Fool knot, Nice to see them using a good idea.

If somebody else invented this before me they didn't post in for all to see or put a name to it. Like I said before I didn't reinvent the wheel here, but now that's its rolling along nicely I think I'll go along for the ride.

Tnx to all Fish-N-Fool

Congratulations, this is one of the few times I have visited this part of TU. I have never seen the Fish n Fool knot before. About 90% of the time, I have always used the Polamor knot and have been happy with it. I am goint to give your knot a try. Thanks for sharing it with us. If I am not mistaking, it only takes a 10% change in a patented invention and you have something new that you can call your own. Surely, that extra wrap would be more than a 10% change in the Uni Knot. As far as I'm concerened, You deserve the credit.

John
