HeadBanger
Hey I was given a large fry daddy deep frier that has a dial thermostat and was wondering if anyone has tried these to melt plastic? I thought that it would work great for dipping tubes.
bear21211
I have never seen the fry daddy with thermostat. Are you sure it is not the Presto pot? Regardless if it has a thermostat to allow you to control the temperature i would say it would work. Send us a picture of it I would like to see it. One thing to keep in mind when using a pot,you must keep your plastic stirred if not it will scorch just sitting on the heating element. If you need any help getting it going send me a pm I will do what I can to help. Edited February 6, 2009 by bear21211 Spelling

Bear, I have an old presto deep fryer thats called a cooldaddy that has a thermostat. It's completely encased in a plastic covering and the thermostat is on the front. Maybe this is what he has. Bass-Boys
I tried a smaller type deep fryer,, not sure if it was a fry daddy or not, it only had ,, low,, med, & high.. it would not get hot enough for the plastic to melt down thin enough.. I would think if its gets hot enough it should work..
saint308
Saint, it has the degree settings. JIM Ok, then it should work. Like Bear said though, just make sure you have something to stir with. Good luck. Saint.
outdooradvantage
Stirring is definetly the key, dont want to scorch your plastic. You may want to look into a stirring system from Bear. I just bought a pot with a stanleel steel paddle system and it works awesome, and very easy to clean.
