jmccoy70
Why does it say not for use with basehole pins when it looks like the mold is cut for it? I have poured bullet and arkie jigs for a while but just purchased a football mold. Thanks in advance. John
cadman
The #3434 (Model FBB-4H-AFM) does accept 1/8 " base hole pins. I don't know where you see that note. In the DO-It catalog, it says that the #3318 (Model FBW-4-AF) is not designed for pins. That mold is made for a finer weedguard,. Jigamanjigs
Any idea on how to powder paint and bake the football mold with the finer weed guard? Because there is no base pin I have to mold with the weed guard in and cannot bake the jig after I paint it because the weedguard melts. Is there a way I can work around this or do i need to buy the other mold that accepts the 1/8in pins? Thanks
Tony Maxwell
You can place a drill bit in the mold instead of the weedguard, pour the head, remove the drill bit, powder paint the head, drill the paint out of the weedguard hole, bake the head, then glue in the weedguard. Sounds much harder than it really is. Takes longer to explain too. Good luck. Tony
Jig Man
I found that 12 g single strand electric wire does a pretty good jog in my fb mold. About a foot of it cut into 1" pieces made tons of pins. I can mold until my heart's content and pull the pins when I am done. Like stated I have to reopen the holes after I paint and bake the heads but it just takes a few seconds on each head. It also makes it a lot easier to tie on the skirts with no wg on. george12182
I haven't tried this personally but I saw on the do-it site they have heat resistant tubing to put over the weedguards so you can powder paint them with the weedguard on. They have a video demonstrating them.
