JigKing
When painting jigs with poly-sil paint or other types of paint and using an epoxy top coat do they need to be turned as they dry to prevent runs? Can any one tell me the work time you have when using clear coat epoxy from Janns Netcraft before it sets up?
smalljaw
I never used the stuff from Janns but I do use Devcon and I don't have any problems with it running, just make sure you don't use heavy coats but instead use 2 thin coats and you'll be fine. Fatman
The way I read on the Poly sil is that it is an epoxy based paint as it's two part could be wrong but with this I'll stick with testors or powder paint as $20 bucks buys alot. "As Poly-Sil Paint is flammable, it is considered a hazardous material by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). As a hazardous material, Federal Law prohibits shipment by air. Also, UPS and RPS charge a $20.00 fee for all ground hazardous shipments. This fee will be included in your order." The other thing is that the clear from Poly Sil is a gloss coat for flourescent colors. I use the two part from Janns on jigs that I paint with Testor's model paint. I usually do 2 coats but that's just me. I have some jigs that I've only used 1 coat and their still being used. I don't mix more than what I'll use. I use disposable syringes to get an even mix and use an upside down soda can to mix it in then dip the brush out of it, nice cupped surface and never had a problem. The only time I use it on powder painted jigs is if I've put on stick on eyes then I put a coat over them to hold them on. Fatman
