Jwags
I'm painting up some lures for a buddy of mine who fishes for muskies on the Wisconsin River. What colors are best for up there? thanks jeremy
WISGUY
Can't go wrong with black and orange. I fish around Lake DuBay and all the fish I've raised have been on either of those colors. Of course I'm sure it has a lot to do with confidence. I'm don't know how well fish can see in root beer colored water.

jamie
Time of year water clarity all play factors in color choice . Ive never fished there but I like to go a natural color scheme in clear water.
strictly esox
I've had great success with orange tiger in that water color. Firetiger or other bright colrs would be my second choice. Pearl copper and yellow sounds interesting, I might have to try shooting that. Thanks for the tip Woodie:yay:

fishcrazy
Fished the Wisconsin River for 30 years from the Mississippi to as far north as Wisconsin Rapids. Not a muskie fisherman I fish for smallies and walleye. This river is full of shad and all the breeds of suckers. The minnows in this river range in some pretty wild colors and I do have a friend that fishes musky and says he does well on white and the sexy shad color pattern. Here is a website you can view all of the baitfish in Wisconsin. I download alot from here for my bait stencils. jamie
What is the water clarity on that river? My guess from the other post its a stained or darker water by the lean torwards orange and the hotter colors. being from the southern musky range Ive never fished on that body of water. strictly esox
Just curious what color you decided to go with? John
Jwags
Just curious what color you decided to go with?John I'm going to go with a couple of natural patterns: a carp and ottawa sucker (came from woodieb8:yay:). However, I also have a special place in my heart for bright colors so I'll probably do a firetiger or orange tiger as well. Pearl copper and yellow sounds good. I've done several bass baits in those colors and the bass obsolutely hammer them! Thanks again for all of the help guys, jeremy
