bassky Posted February 17, 2009 Report Share Posted February 17, 2009 When you have placed your foil on the sides of the crankbait, do you put a coat of epoxy on first then airbrush white on the bottom or color on the top or do you just go ahead and paint the top and bottom, then coat the bait with epoxy? The only thing that you left out that I do is that I sand the first coat of epoxy before I paint to give the paint something to adhere to. BobP Posted February 17, 2009 Report Share Posted February 17, 2009 I think it may depend on the foil. Metallic duct tape is thick enough that the tape edges stand out. Paint doesn't seem to adhere very well to it so adding epoxy is good for adhesion and esthetics. I've started using Venture tape designed for stained glass work.
