Coosa Redeye
Is it possible to make an rtv mold using soft plastic baits as the master? I have some old hand-poured finesse worms that I cannot find anymore of, and want to make my own. Thanks in advance! Coosa:?
longhorn
It should be easy to make a mold like that. Just stick the masters down and pour the RTV over. There are lots of posts on here that show the process. Good Luck.
Delw
Make sure you either pin them down very good or glue them as they will float to the top if you don't
robalo01
Do you need a release for this?
96dak
rtv is a silicone so i would think not
bojon
I really enjoy working with RTV,but it is a bit pricey.I had a kit from Micro-Mark,that had a mold release, that I used ,because it was there.I doubt if it was needed.I built a form around the lure using Legos as instructed by a member of this forum.Everything went smooth.Nice mold. Coosa Redeye
Thank you all. My main concern was that the baits would react to the rtv. I have made POP molds of these baits, but need the flexibility of the rtv due to the undercuts and intricacies. Coosa
Coosa Redeye
This is how the POP mold baits turned out. (First Pour) Sorry for the bad picture. I hope posting this does not violate any rules, I felt it was needed to help explain my dilemma.
bassbug
RTV will work well from your plastic masters. My problem is geting the original glued down well enough so the RTV does not run under it. With a POP or water putty mold, you can dremel the overrun. With the RTV you have to cut and snip the overrun. That does not make for a bait with smooth edges. RTV will pick up ever little detail.
