criggster
What kinds of pots can be used on a hot plate for pouring plastic? I have been using the micro but would like to start using a hot plate too. I looked in several different stores for an aluminum pot, but can't find one. I know they are sold at LC and other places, but right now I'm unemployed and need a cheaper (Wally World?) alternative.
bojon
The last time I saw a cheap pot made of aluminum, for a pound cake, was at a Hobby Lobby.Last time I looked they didn't have them, but they may have something you can use. When I fisrt started to dip tubes I used a small pan shaped like a number one,for a birthday cake, not much bigger than a cup cake. They were in the section where they have birthday bake stuff. They may have something you could use.I still have the pouring pans(small) that I got from LC,thirty years,or more ago.You could put two of these on a one plate burner.Keep your mind open for options, and remember you can add a small section of dowel for a handle. My girl friend, just told me to check yard sales.Might be a way to go,and should be dirt cheap. criggster
Do the pots need to be aluminum? It seems as though all pots these days are stainless steel.
gone2long
How big do you want I just bought a set of 4 measuring cups that are Stanless from 1/4 to 1 cup for $6 at the ACME. You might try Craigslist as well. Chris
Vodkaman
The important thing is heat distribution. Ideally, a pot with a thick bottom. These are usually copper bottomed and are more expensive. But you may be lucky to find a second hand, used, as Bojon suggested, yard sales. In UK, we call these car boot sales. Lots of bargains to be had. Dave
criggster
One cup sizes would work as I am only pouring small batches usually in pearl or white. I'll check again to see if I can find any stainless steel measuring cups.
