Gloomisman
Has anyone used one of these? I'm thinking about buying one to paint jig heads. Is it easier then dipping and give a cleaner look?
Basseducer
Gloomisman, I use them all the time for spinnerbaits, spoons and buzzbaits. They give you some nice blends on multicolor baits. They are the thing for painting those new hidden eye brush jigs, but I still like to dip everything else. Gloomisman
does it use less Powder? Does the paint hold up just as well as dipping?
dannyp
Gloomisman, I do have one and find it to be of better use spraying spinnerbaits. don't know how you currently paint your jigs but using the gun will waste some paint for that. For Jigs I recommend and use a fluid bed. If you do decide to purchase one, get extra tubes and jars right away. Also this is a single action type gun so getting those real professional blends and feather jobs is almost nil. (at least for me any way:) )
pirkfan
I use one of the Badger abrasive guns for powder paint, to do counter shading on 2 color jigs. Works OK, but you do waste a bit of powder (I spray right into a garbage can). Once the lures are cured they're just as tough as dipped. For spinner bait heads, I use an embossing heat gun and just heat the lead head, not the hook...then just dip them like a jig....powder doesn't stick to the unheated hook.
