fishcrazy
Looking to make a little more durable plastic for some frogs and jig trailers. Is the saltwater plastic better for this or should I just add more hardener? When you make a harder plastic does it have alot heavier viscosity making it harder to pour into smaller areas? Delw
med plastic is best, I personally think saltwater aka hard plastic is too tough for frogs. the easy thinest to pour is as follows, the vis gets thicker as the plastic harness changes, burning is also easier on harder plastics make sure you put in heat stabilizer, Calhoun has enough heat stabilizer to not need any added unless you are in a pot for more than 30 mins. all 3 brands need to be stirred constantly on the hard plastics this is very important to keep the plastic from scortching. super soft ( lc and MF) thin soft (calhoun) thin regular/med (lc calhoun and mf) thicker hard/tube aka saltwater (calhoun Lc and MF) thickest remember all three brands have different durameter (harness's). fishcrazy
DEL what would you recommend to pour in a two piece buzz frog mold? I make all of my baits really soft for my use more action on the bait and they seem to hang on longer Mike
Delw
I use med and hard, I use hard when I put them as a trailer on a buzzbait which I mostly do for these. ( I pretty much burn a buzz bait in ) and med when I just pop them along the shore line. what I have found with soft is that the feet are too soft and basically float on the top not really making the water spit on the legs. with a hard or med the legs will spit water out better using them as a buzz bait trailer is pretty awsum , the bass dont just slurp it up like the do a buzzbait they explode on the bait. daveh
i use lc 502 and put a cap of lc hardener in 4oz. makes a great frog. also use the same amount on flukes. you really have to mix lc hardener in the plastic before you heat it.
