siebler_custom_baits
I bought a lee "plastic pot" on ebay, i have worked with these before. Welli decided to try it a couple of minutes ago and pluged it in ,put it on low, and within 5 minuts the dam thing is smokin. Im like o.k. i dont remember these gettin hot this fast. So i throw a small chunk of plastic in there and boom, it melts and scorches within 5 seconds. What do you guys think, is it a lead put? what is the difference in looks. i think after it cools ill clean it and try again, but put an old weight in it to see if it melts. Fish_N_Fool
I bet it is a lead pot . From that I hear they look exactly the same, only the heating coil is differant. I would ask the guy you bought it from about it again and see what he used it for?.
alsworms
You might have gotten an older one. All the new pots say "for pouring lead only" right on the front. I have never used a lead pot, but I hear it's almost impossible to pour plastic with. Chris

Fuzzerr
I have both plastic and lead pots. They look the same. I have tried to melt plastic in the lead pot and it is impossible even at the lowest levels. The coils are different but I am not sure how to go about changing yours to melt plastic. Fuzzerr
I am not for sure but if I was to guess I would say it would not melt it. If it does it would take forever and a day. The plastic pots do not heat near as much.
