gcl58
i was at last years ICAST show in vegas and asked one of the major manufactures why they make each others lures and sell them under a different name and not get sued. his reply was it takes a competing manufacture six months to tool up on the competitions lure and several more months to get the lure out. by then that company has made their market share and is know coming out with the second generation lure. so the competior (copier) is always chasing changes and is not getting all of the market but small percentage. so we turn a blind eye to each other. so big fish swims with the big fish and give each other room to work, and we the small fish will always be chase (tried to be eaten) eaten by the bigger fish. stay the course, they the big fish will eventually swim away. we hope. bgog
CarolinaMike, As you well know Zoom has you in their cross-hairs and will not let up, period. It appears you have become the proverbial poster child of this site. Any of us on this site that have been around this business long enough know that when times are good it is a nasty back stabbing business, in current times (rough economy) things are going to get worse. In one of the posts some body stated that these "big" companies are taking ideas from the TU members and making them, that would not be a surprise, that is just business as usual for these guys. Zoom has clearly picked your bait for obvious reasons, you are obviously a reasonable person by abiding by their requests, I failed in that attempt during my stint in this business and it cost me dearly. I would have to say that Ed gave the "warning shot over the bow" and nothing else will be done towards you. We are small fish, and some small fish grow into big fish, and the old big fish don't like that, always remember there is always room for one more, Ed has a little over 20% of the soft plastics market covered, considering the soft plastics market is worth over $90 million a year, you are not perceived as a threat, only being used as an example. This is only my perception of your current issue, I know all to well how these things can turn out if not handled properly. It's all good!
