Calihunt13
Im thinking about Powder Painting the lead I use for my lures. My question to you all is what kind of coverage are you getting? I know this may be an impossible question to answer, but if any of you are painting in bulk, can you tell me roughly about how many 1/2 oz jig heads I could paint from a 2oz jar. Thanks
reeves
Calihunt13, It really is an impossible question to answer mainly because there are so many variables to consider. Such as: Method of application; electrostatic, fluid bed, fluff dip Thickness in mils to be applied. Size of object being painted Component Systems once had a figure they used for advertising as to the amount of pieces that could be painted per ounce, but I just don't recall what that figure was. You can visit their website and see if they still note it.
cadman
Calihunt, George is correct, there are so many guys that paint so differently with different applications. As far as # of jigs from a 2 oz. jar of Pro-Tec, on Pro-Tecs package, it states "Approximately 400 1/4 oz jigs"
yankee jigger
Quite a few would be an accurate answer. The only way to determine this is if you heat the same jig the same amount of time, the paint the same fluffyness(sp),and dipped the same amount of time. Some say CS powder paint is expensive but with the amount of colors, its worth six bucks a jar IMHO. IM ALMOST OUT OF JOHN DEERE GREEN TED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! walleye4
If your using a fluid bed, the # of jigs you can get from a 2 oz jar is amazing. I started using fluid beds and I can paint about 3 times more jigs on a jar than just dipping right in the jar.
