SeminoleFan
Hey Guys, Are they really worth it? How much should you pour to justify the expense? Rick
Delw
Hi rick. I dont think they are worth it anymore. when I first started I would have said you cant live with out them but after a while you can pour better and faster with a alum pan (heating the stuff in the microwave.) the more you pour with a pan the better you get. I can almost pour blood lines and 3 folor baits now.( I probally could but I dont have the paitence. as far as the more expensive ones heck ya they are worth it. they dont burn your plastic. Mercury
Agreed , I have gotten away from the pots due to scorching the plastics and can do better with the microwave and hot plates. Jeff
siebler_custom_baits
i DONT LIKE THE LEE POTS BUT THE NES LIKE SRpLASTICS HAS ARE AWSOME. They only scorch if the heat is up too high ( way high)
alsworms
I don't mess with 'em unless I have to. They are great for pouring large orders of single colors. It's not worth it for much else to me. Chris
Tubeman
I bought a hot pot from Rite Hete last month and use it only for dipping tubes. Its 12 " deep and 10 " across. The heating elements in the pot cover 85% of the wall surfaces and I have not scorched any plastic.....yet
Fuzzerr
What are the higher end pots and where do you get them. I am like most everyone here, the lee pots are great for one color and bulk orders. They will leave a nasty smell to the bait if you don't pour quickly or you do not have enough molds. SeminoleFan
Thanks Guys. I will wait to make the investment. I am plenty busy but dont want the hassels with the big pots. I can pour enough for now to stay up. Rick
guiley
The thermostat on the Lee plastic pots is just about worthless. There are a couple of things you can do to make the pots more useable. A buddy of mine installed dimmer switches for his pots so that he can turn down the temperature of the heating element. This has worked well for him. I went one step further and installed an industrial temperature controller on mine (I'm an automation engineer). I can set my pots to a temperature, leave them for an hour and the plastic is fine. Brian
