uwfishmd
What I really would like to know is if anyone has worked with balsa foam in making crank baits?
bassrecord
I'm not familiar with balsa foam. Do you mean this stuff? Balsa Foam - BLICK art materials Can you give me a link? Thanks. John
uwfishmd
Yes that is the stuff but here is a better website that has more of an explanation The Compleat Sculptor - Balsa-Foam, BalsaFoam, Balsa Foam
Vodkaman
Way too expensive for making bodies. But would be perfect for making masters for RTV molds. The fact that it will take an indentation without springing back (no memory), makes 3D scales very easy to produce, by making a scale tool to push into the material, rather than having to carve each scale. Good find. Dave
rampantmonkey
i wonder about the holding ability as for screw eyes and hook hangers. also, pretty spendy @ $18-$20 / bf.
uwfishmd
I did find a little more reasonable balsa foam but I'd like to make my prototypes out of it. Not only crank baits but soft baits as well.
