tucker2
hey fellas, I am looking for a fish doctor mold in either aluminum or resign. I know LC and a few other have them but I was looking for something that will let me do at least 10 pours per mold. Any thoughts? JT
Pitbull Baits
What are you looking to pour? It might be just as easy to make a few POP molds.
tucker2
I am pouring orders in the 100's. I have a resign mold but I don't like to pour on it that much because I worry about it holding up t the heat.
Pitbull Baits
I just made 60 or 70 POP molds this past couple of weeks I have a show coming up. I was able to fit 5, 8 and 10 cavs on a mold depending on what it was. Its just a cheaper way to get more mold for your money.
tucker2
Are these rtv or what are they? I have some rtv but I have started to steer away from rtv becuase of the wear and loss of the glossy shine of the molds. Are you making these molds for your use or for sale? Pitbull Baits
I am making them for my use. They are just cheap and you can get everything at Mernards or a place like that. I use a few coats of Elmers glue on them and you will get a shinny bait like RTV or aluminum. I am just getting started back up and working with a bum budget. Its the best way to get a lot of molds so you can pour larger amounts of plastics quicker.
finsnhorns
I have done extensive searches for this fish doctor mold and come up empty. I have never made a mold or poured plastics. Watched a few things on youtube, but love the fish doctor bait and would like to try to pour my own and get started. Do you all have any videos you found helpful or a list of supplies to make molds and to come up with plastic???? I saw menards mentioned above. My biggest challenge will be time with work, grad school, and kids. But would get more satisfaction from making own lures I believe. Anyone interested in making me a few molds. If you have one mold that has a cavity of five, does that mean you can only pour five at a time? Silly question I know, but can you mix up a batch of the color you like and then pour five and empty right away and keep pouring and repeating process? This is my first post on Tackeunderground, would appreciate any help for this rookie.
Painter1
I have an open pour "french-fry" aluminum mold you can have along with a couple other items. The mold is a multi-cavity Del, I think. I'm in St Louis so if you are nearby you can pick it up. I was warned when I started this hobby, so I will pass it on; Making your own baits is a fun but addicting past time. finsnhorns
Wow, couldn't be happier. Do you think the stuff would fit in a flat rate shipping box? I don't mind paying for shipping. Do you have paypal? I live in Columbia, MO and would be coming through on August 3rd, but may have a hard time convincing the wife to allow time. Thanks again. MuskyGary
The caneycreek mold has been a hot worm this year particulary for smallmouth.
DaBehr
You could ask Jason to make you up a 10+ cavity mold...either in hand pour or injection. He calls these big multicavity molds the "Pro Series" molds and does them on a "as requested" basis. Given the popularity of the 3.85 and the 4.85 Freedom Fries...I suspect a number of people would be interested in a multicavity injection mold. I have both molds (the 3.85 in hand pour and the 4.85 as an injection) and they make a great looking bait. The open pour is easy enough that even a "hand pour challenged" person such as myself can make great looking baits! The OP molds are all 5 cavity so buying 2 to get your 10 per would not be a significant investment. The aluminum molds make a much nicer looking bait in my opinion...sharper edges...nice finish. No doubt that these types of worms are super wacky worms! If you order a mold...order a color or two of your favorite color in X2...you will be impressed!
