MTfishingrods
Contact Bojon by PM. He sells a kit that I hear is great. I plan on getting one soon. It is around $49.00 if I remember right and includes the cutter DVD and E book. I have heard nothing but good about it and have contacted him before about it. Before I jump into producing tubes on a large scale instead of just playing with them I will be purchasing one from him.
figueira
You are right I got it from Bojon. He has a great kit with a cutter and e book and dvd. On the dvd you will find all that you need to dip horizontally. Joe

Tubeman
Thanks Joe, I know what you mean about trying new hobbies....this one is very addictive. I'm now working on a 9 1/2 " hollow body dipped swimbait for musky, pike and the occasional cali bass.
bojon
Mike,do you dip horizontal for this type bait? I expected a 10 inch tube. We don't have big enough fish for a tube that size, but it should work in your area.Let us know. Good fishing!
Tubeman
We vertically dip them, it's much easier for me anyways. I would think horizontally dipping takes a bit more practice.
96dak
i would like to hear how you get your half and half tubes without horozontal dipping (unless its a secret ) by the way, this is Dave, i just bought 5gallons of plastic from you
Tubeman
Actually, most tubes are vertically dipped and then the last layer is horizontally dipped. You need a specially bent dipper to do these tubes. I used to make them and then found I had more artistic freedom airbrushing them. The paint adheres far better then the plastic (most laminates can be peeled off )
bojon
Mike, like you said horizontal dipping large tubes is tough. The largest I've done was 8 inches by 3/4 inch, and it was tough on my old wrists. I have to dip my colors in most cases. If it is a simple two, three,or four color,I just dip them.More complicated I use acrilic paints then dip a final in clear.I have never been able to use a air brush and I don't know why. As far as the tube colors seperating,I have never had a problem.
Tubeman
Sorry, I ment the 2 colour laminated variety. Usually they are mass produced and they wait too long in between dips. These are dipped vertically and the last layer is horizontal only on one half of the tube. For air brushing , you need to use the color tech paints from Lurecraft. This is a special flexible paint formulated to adhere to plastisol. You can do some neat tricks with it....sprinkle a fine glitter on one half and spray on a light layer of clear coat or add a hi lite or pearl powder to the clear coat for some cool effects. 96dak
thanks, mike, its going great so far, got a big order from del locked down in customs right now though
bojon
If you wait a long time between dips you can have seperation of the colors. You might try a pan set up for horizontal with the hot plastic then go straight to the second color, but this would mean both would be horizontal dips.I have had three pans and three colors ready to go,1,2,and three.Nice blend of colors. Also,if you have trouble with a second color sticking, just clean the surface with alcohol,or soap.Just get rid of the oily surface. It works for me.
