mwh624
Hi all. I have been making bucktail inline spinners using fishair for awhile now and after looking at this site I want to try making them out of rubber or silicone skirts. First question, what type of material do you recommend for large (muskie size) inline spinners. Second, what type of bodies do you recommend and where can I buy them. Thanks
psv
Hi mwh624, There are 2 types of silicone skirts available: flat and round. Flat is cheaper and color options is endless. Round is more expensive with limited color options. I use round ones on my spinnerbaits and jigs. Starflash and Hydrosilk are my choice ( available in Netcraft, Stamina etc) If you like flat skirts, check this store: rusty craw 116 - $0.20 Hope it helps. mwh624
Thanks for the reply. Are 5 1/2" strips long enough for a musky size inline spinner or will I need material that comes in much longer sections and then cut it to my desired length. Ideally I think I'd like about a 4" tail. So I figure this equates to about a 7 or 8 inch strip of material? Any ideas on where to get bodies? george12182
I would say your definately going to need skirts longer than the standard 5" size. Not only are they going to be too short, youre going to want thicker cut strands. Products Lure Parts Online (formerly stamina) has the 7" loose material as well as them already made up. With the longer skirts they also have thicker strands as well. The prices aren't too bad if your not making them for production. If your making them to sell I'd try to find some cheaper.
