Bassgrabber
Hi everyone.. TGIF!! I just finished powder coating some jig heads (First time doing it) and they turned out pretty darn good.. I bought these from DO-IT and they have the weedguards installed (That heat resistant tubing is a life saver) My question is will I be able to cure these in the toaster oven without damaging the weed guards? Thanks in advance for your input.. Tom
Jig Man
If it were me, I'd put 2 of them in and give it a try. I'd also set a timer and sit and watch them if I could.
Vodkaman
This thread http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/wire-baits/10046-weed-guards-2.html discusses the problem and comes up with a few solutions. The metal tube and foil ideas seem quite promising. Dave
Bassgrabber
Thanks Vodka!! The link was what I was looking for.. The foil trick worked like a charm.. I baked them for 20 mins at 225 and the weedguards are fine.. Appreciate the assistance!!
EironBreaker
If you are going to repeatedly paint heads with guards pre-poured, here's what I made so I can reuse them and it is cheap. I take 1/4 inch dowel and cut it down to lengths just longer than the guard. Drill a 1/8" hole down the center of it on a drill press and wobble it out a little so the guard will fit in easily. Take a big drill bit and make a funnel on one end so you can get the guard in. All done and you can reuse them for years. Guards come out perfectly straight every time.
