Javelin
Does anyone here have any problems with the chartruse colors running after you bake them in the oven? The paint runs down on the hook about 50 percent of the time. I've had the same problem with green chartruse and yellow chartruse, but no other colors. cadman
I guess you are hanging them on your rack by the hook eye correct? By running down do you mean you get a tear drop look. If it's a tear drop look, you have way too much paint on the jig. I have never had any problem with any color dripping. What type of jig, what type of powderpaint (Pro-Tec)? Post some pics so we can see and assess the problem.
Javelin
No I'm hanging them by the wire end. I have tried it both ways. First on the ultra minnow spinnerbait heads. I figured I had too much paint on the heads, but I am swishing them in a plastic bowl. I'm using the pro tec and also the netcraft paint. cadman
These are spinnerbaits? If they are I don't swish them through the bowl. I apply powder by the paint brush method. How many are you doing, as the brush method may be too cumbersome?
Javelin
Well I was doing 15 on this particular order. You have to keep reheating the head when using the paintbrush method, don't you?
dannyp
Javilin When I first started out I did have the colors run/bleed together but it was because of the clear coat I was using.
Javelin
Well I'm not new to this powder painting. I have probably painted 2000 in the last couple of years. The only colors I have a problem with is the chartruse and green chartruse, so I think there is a pigment in the paint that makes it easier to run. If the jig is hot enough no, but if you are applying several colors, yes you have to constantly make sure the head is hot so the new powder sticks to the old powder. Fatman
Javalin I use the chartreuse and green chart from Janns Netcraft (It's Prot-Tec just rebottled) and have only had a few get drip heads only cause I left in the powder too long. I've only done one spinnerbait but I hung mine from the hook not the wire. I'm trying to remember the thread where someone here made a fluid bed with 5 in PVC and set it up to take spinner baits. I'll keep looking for it. I remember the two slots had some kind of soft rubber sleeve to keep the powder in though. Fatman
uppermiss_rat316
I have a fluid bed from that guy in MI (dayooper? or something like that) that is 4 or 5" that takes spinnerbaits great, I always do the base color in the fluid bed, then use the paint brush method for the following colors, works out good. papamark
I don't seem to have the problem with these colors , the one I have is with WHITE. but I have finally figured that one out. I think that White is the hardest to do cause its the thickest. Trail and error finally got me there.
