hawghunterbaits
Hello all my fellow bait makers, As I set here this morning, I have a ? that to this day still ponders me. Why in God's name would someone pay more for a used mold on ebay than you can buy it for new? I was watching a Bob's 4inch stik on there that sold for 66 bucks plus shipping, I belive Bob sells it for 62 bucks new. I guess someone is pouring without pertective equiment on, cause it seems to me they have been inhaling to many fumes! Just my 2 cents worth, and I guess it proves there r still some stupid people out there among us so be careful!!!!
alsworms
I think when it comes to those kinds of prices on Ebay, it's all about the bidding wars. There are still many members who absolutely refuse to be outbid. Sadder yet is that seller is probably charging twice for shipping than what Bob does. Garneau Baits
A lot of people don't know where to buy molds, and don't know how much it cost to get one. I'm about to put 4- 7 cavity stick molds (dels) on e-bay and I hope they get bid way up, it wouldn't hurt my feelings.
bear21211
I guess that is why I do not use ebay. It would bother me for people to pay for a used product more than they can buy new.
hawghunterbaits
well Happy times It is probally safe to say at this point and time you might get more than you paid for them. I to am going to put a couple molds on there this week. I just hope to break even.
Garneau Baits
I'm not looking to make any money on them. Actually I would be happy getting my starting bid ($75)per mold which would be a loss. Del is making me a bunch of 10 cav molds and they have changed a bit since the last ones I bought from him and that's the only reason im selling the 4 - 7 cavs I have. That being said I wont feel bad if they get bid up above what I paid for them. I'm not forcing anyone to bid what they want.
Romeo D
Happy... what has changed. For the newbie like me I cannot really tell the difference without seeing them up close?
Garneau Baits
I'm not sure Del just told me that they are a bit different now. I think there is like 1 or 2 less ribs in the new molds. So I just want to have all the same molds.
Delw
Happy... what has changed. For the newbie like me I cannot really tell the difference without seeing them up close? What happened was about 2-3 years ago, I made remade one for a customer that was a tad narrower, saved it as the org stick bait. then when I had made a customer a bunch of 10 cavity ones the size was off. He brought it to my attention. I still have the org. program and we just double check to make sure. Good thing I had back ups As far as ebay I have seen some pretty wild things, over the years I have seen my and Bobbiy's molds go for doulbe and triple the price we sell them for ( its not often but it does happen. whats funny is the person selling the mold will put exactly who made it and some people just continue bidding ( like Chris says Bidding wars). One of my customers bought 2 4 cav split tail bug molds for $350 each, I have seen bobby's one sided beaver mold selling for $150 each in the past. one guy sold like 5 of our chub E molds at a show in longbeach last year for 200-225 each. He said it was a bidding war at his table between like 4 guys. Delw
MTfishingrods
Ebay can be a crap shoot. Things can have a bid war and others can just sit there with no bids at all. But 9 times out of 10 I find there are no great deals left to be had on ebay anymore unless you are looking for something very odd.
Vodkaman
There was a wierd looking hardbait on flea bay a few weeks ago, sorry I don't have a pic. It professed to be old, but KcDano, who sent me the link, was not convinced. It had a flapping tail, driven from a nose spinner with a connecting drive shaft. The soldering of the brass parts was pitiful, in fact criminally so! It went for $1016. WOW, someone got bargain and it wasn't the buyer.
