mikefishnfl
Hey guys, ive been reading a lot on here about different ways to top coat a hard bait. I do a lot of powder paint but just brought an airbrush yesterday and started playing with some old messed up Strike King baits I have. I painted one using createx, and it turned out pretty good for doing basically zero prep work. My question is, has anyone used the Krylon Poly Urethane spray for a top coat? I looked all over town for devcon 2 but haven't found it locally. I bought a rotisserie today and im going to make a drying wheel sometime this week. Anyways, let me know what you think for a "true rookie".
TightLinez
Looks great man- a lot better than my first! I haven't tried that spray poly, but if it works out for you, I'm all over it. My guess is that you'd have to do a few coats, letting it dry between them. Right now I'm using Envirotex and I've been pretty happy with it. mikefishnfl
Thanks for the compliment! Here is the second one I just painted. It's not finished yet, but pretty close. Golden wild shiner. Has a black back, gold sides, pearl bottom. Hard to get the detail to focus on the pic.
mark poulson
You are really good at painting, for a first-timer with an airbrush. I've never used the Krylon Urethane as a topcoat, but I use their primer, spray glitter, and pastel fixative, and love them. Let us know how the urethane holds up as a topcoat.
