prfishin
I was wondering what the all time favorite paint is. Upto now I have just tried powder paint, which I stoped using do to it chipping away to easy. Even if I were to let it drop on the tile floor, it would chip away. So, I decided to switch over to spray paint. Which comes in a wide variety of colors as well. It doesn't chip as easy as the powder paint (in my own opinion). But it is still not what I am looking for. Even after I clear coat the jig, it can still get scratched quite easily. I've also tried clear varnish, but I don't think its quite what I am looking for. Can clear varnish substitute epoxy coating your paint? I'm just trying to find the best way to go, until I get my airbrush. (after tax return) Then a whole new dilema will come up. What will the best paint to use with the airbrush? How do I make it chip/scratch resistant? But for now I ask you all, what is your favorite paint? cadman
This is probably not what you want to hear after your testing with powder paint. However hands down properly cure powder paint. For extra protection, clear coat with Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute. Fast, quick and easy. I fish a lot of rivers with rocks, and mine seem to last a lot longer than store bought jigs . I lose more in the rivers than I worry about paint chipping. Lead jigs are never 100% chip free, especially in rock infested waters. That's why I make my own, so I can make more. george12182
I just started powder painting and I am amazed at how durable it is. Like cadman said you have to cure it though. Just stick it in the toaster oven for around 15 min at 350 and the stuff doesn't come off. If you don't cure it though, it will chip really easy.
