Calihunt13
I did a search and noticed that a lot of you seal and cover your eyes with an epoxy. Has anyone tried a clear powder paint over adhesive eyes? What were the results?
george12182
Never tried, I am pretty sure that the heat needed to powder paint would melt the eyes though
JSC
Clear coat over eyes will work but ... you have to watch and not get to hot or bake to long. JSC
Calihunt13
Thanks for the input...... Im thinking about using clear coat powder paint w/ glitter over an unpainted lead shad head with adhesive eyes. Do you think the clear w/ glitter over the raw lead would give me a good shimmer. Getting ready to place an order.......I'm going to experiment, but thought I would get some feedback before I spend all of my (the wifes) money!! If you are just going to clearcoat over raw lead, then why not put on your eyes, and then mix your glitter with D2T. It comes out beautiful. If your jigs are new and shiney, that is about as close to chrome as you are goingto get, unless you chome plate it. PM me your e-mail, and I'll show you some pics if you are interested. I have been using the Pro Tec Clear in a fluid bed to cover the adheasive eyes with moderate success. However I am looking for something that is a little easier on the adheasive eyes. Thanks

I stick the eye on, and then clearcoat the entire jig. Stand the jig up on end head pointing up, let dry. I do not thin D2T. I don't use any other clear, so I can't say. I personally would not put a jig in an oven with eyes on, to bake the finish coat. I'm not saying it can't be done. But in order to cure any powder correctly, it has to be about 350 degrees and in for about 15 minutes give or take.
