perchfisher
i'm curious as to what clearcoat brands work the best. i've read several posts that people claim the clearcoat bleeds into the colors. i'm also new to this powder painting and curious as to when you apply the clearcoat.do you coat it right after you dip it while it's still hot? cadman
As far as clearcoats, there are a lot out there. It depends on what you want to achoieve. I believe all the Pro-tec Flake glitters that you put on after painting your jig have a clearcoat mixed in it. You can also put another one over that, called Devcon 2 Ton (D2T), for extra protection. There is also E-tex, Pro-tec also has there own brand of clear coat called "Seal Coat". I'm sure there are more. As far as clearcoat bleeding into the paint I never heard that, and I've used a lot of different paints, and have never had that happen. Application: All paints have to be baked to cure the powder. With that said, on your pro-tec flake you can apply it right after you finish your painting, but before baking. Then you can bake everyhing all at once. With D2T it is applied ater the jig is baked and cool. E-tex the same as DT. As far as "Seal Coat", I've never used it, so I can't comment on it. I did hear good things about it. akriverrat
i use mirror gloss clear and i apply after i reheat the jigs for about ten minutes. i dont think it matters too much when you put it on ive never had a bleeding problem and ive applied right after color too.
