Shikari PSJ601 blank

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am new here and want to say hello. Last week I lost my favorite rod that I used for smallmouth bass fishing. I bought it a few years ago and it was built from a Shikari PSJ601 blank (specs 6 feet long, lure rating 1/16 to 5/16 oz, 6-10 pound test, fast action). I am looking to replace the rod and want another Shikari PSJ601 blank. I have heard they no longer make blanks. Does anyone know where I can find this blank? What would compareable? I saw on Ebay a similar shikari blank with the same specs but it was called a SHIISJ601. The seller said this blank was 33 million modulus. Would this blank give me similar performance as the PSJ601? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will

Sorry, I had the name wrong. Company is called Advanced Tubular Composites and you can find their complete listings at Merrick Tackle.

My bad,

David

ATC shut their doors some time ago.

Additionally, they did not offer a replacement model for the Shikari SHX PSJ601.

ATC supposedly bought all the Shikari mandrels. But...the mandrels never left the Shikari plant. So ATC couldn't have been making the very same blanks.

Additionally, they reformulated the SHX graphite and retooled most of the SHX blanks anyway. So there was no way those models could be the same.

I do have a few of the SHX replacements (ATC V) in heavier Bass models and the numbers I got from measuring them up are pretty impressive. In the same ballpark with SHX/IMX/GLX/LE.

But...with the doors now closed and no opportunity for warranty or other support...
