GonefishingAZ Posted April 13, 2009 Report Share Posted April 13, 2009 This may have been discussed before, but I figured I'd ask. I'm using Upper Hand Scent in my soft plastic prior to pouring. I then add scent to the completed worms once in the bag. In 2-3 days all the scent in the bag appears to be absorbed by the worms. Has anyone experienced this? The Dutchman Posted April 13, 2009 Report Share Posted April 13, 2009 You should not have to keep adding scent. If your baits have salt, like sticks, the salt is probably what is absorbing the scent. GonefishingAZ Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 13, 2009 I'm not using any salt in my baits and I am using laminated bags from DELW. I am just trying to keep the bait looking good in the bag. I was adding worm oil to the bag, but a lot of the TU members said they only used scent and worm oil in the bag wasn't necessary. reefaddiction Posted April 14, 2009 Report Share Posted April 14, 2009 It oks ok my baits most of the time do the same thing but it takes a while. I notice it maybe a 2-3 weeks down the road but if you open the scent goes right out to you. the baits are nicely marinaded and the scent should be through out the bait. After I take my baits out of the mold, they go into an aluminum baking pan to set up and marinate. If I don't bag them until 3 or 4 days later, the scent gets absorbed into the plastic. If you are using a good amount of flake, I think it makes the plastic even more porous and will absorb the scent event faster. This has been my experience with any type of additive I've used. He said that their Anise based scents seem to be absorbed by soft plastic faster than any of their other scents. I don't mind it, as long as the bait retains the scent and flavor.
