cranker
I finally got around to building my homemade fluid bed using the basic 3" pvc design with a brown paper bag filter between the two sections.Instead of the fish tank pump I was able to use my small compressor I use for airbrushing since I can control the air pressure from totally closed up to 90 #'s.I put my powder in and started giving it some air and my powder was really doing good looking almost like a liquid in the cup like you want it to but I had one problem that I could not get out and was hoping someone here may have had a similar experience and could help.at all pressure settings I am getting a constant very fine vapor almost like smoke fuming up out of my cup,its so bad you cannot even see down into the cup for the cloud, the only thing I can think of that may cause this is the fact I was using a powder (black) from a local powder coating shop that was kind enough to give me a small bag full to practice with.I dont know if the powder you guys use may be a different grade or particle size or something or if I am just doing something wrong. clamboni
that's not a problem. That's what a fluid bed does. The smaller lighter particles are too light to fall back against the airflow. Mine does it too, I don't worry about it. If you're worried about making a mess, make a little fan booth with a filter. I wouldn't worry about the lost paint, the amount you'll lose is minuscule.
