Rob Olling
I use custom jigs and spins 2-spot teardrops during the summer for bluegill and would like to make my own. This is a small like 1/200 oz tear on a #12 hook. Should I have a mold made, solder on tear bodies or what?
Monty
most tear drop jigs are little ice blades soldered to the small hooks using a hemostat and a solding iron. thats why the back of those jigs are crome on the one side. monty

just_plugging_away
i think rosin core solder is what you will want to use.If you just use regular solder and flux paste the hook will corode a little while later where it meets the blade.it will look likw rust. Richoc
The type of sodder you use will effect the weight of the bait and the type of flux needed. Been making them for years, rosin core is the easy way. But requires lots of cleaning before painting. I have even done them with silver sodder. You must use the correct hooks for the type of sodder you wish to use. Gold plated ones are the easiest. You must wash all flux off before trying to paint then. I use an air brush and do 100's at a time. Then final coat in epoxy, lasts for ever. Rust has never been a factor. If you got rust you did some thing incorrect, maybe? The ant and glow bodys are cast on bronze hooks. Most cast ones have ethier 90% or crimped shank hooks to hold them together. You do not want to use acid core this will wreck the finish and cause rust after use.
