finlander
I received my 'paint' from Noel today, but the 'dyes' were not enclosed. Just the clear paint. Anything I could add on my own to 'color' it? I will call him if it comes to that, to get the dyes.
redg8r
Oohh, I think your gonna need those pigments, Theyre alot cheaper than the base itself, Id call him back. He called them something like "DLP" (Dispersal ??? Pigments) I did a web search & came up empty. I know acrylics wont work (already tried) but maybe a solvent based paint would work (lacquers) but Im just guessing. if you find something that works, please pass it on, I'm talking to a couple of people about finding more of this stuff & more info on it. but its going slow. Delw
Dispersal pigments is the correct term, its very hard to impossible to find on the net. I have some colors here, April has worded a bunch of time to find these for the colors we will be carrying soon to mix with soft plastics. The other thing is that certain pigments will only mix with certain base products. What type of base are you useing? What are you using it for? finlander
I not sure who this was targeted for. I am new to this so I don't have a clue what Noel sent me in this bottle. It is clear, thick like a syrup and can be thinned with MEK. That is all I know. Maybe Jerry can add to this. Also, the last few days when I want to reply to a post, I get taken back to the page listing all the sections. Then I have to go back into 'plastics', and then into the post where I had been. When I click 'reply' again, it usually takes me to the correct page. What gives? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Noel said 2:1 (2 parts MEK to 1 part Clear Base) then add a few drops of the pigment to attain the color you want. You can brush it on, dot it on, however. If you wanna spray it, Id thin it to 4:1 to make sure its viscous enough to pass thru your gun. The "reply" button is kinda close to the "Tackleunderground.com Forum Index" link, maybe you accidentally clicked that. Other than that I really dont know
finlander
How did Noel package those dyes he sent?? Glass containers? What would you suggest keeping them in once I have colors mixed??
MagicBob
Don't know a lot about this topic, but check out this http://www.artstuf.com/pigments3.html
redg8r
The pigments at artstuf.com is for cold casting resin. not saying it wont work but its a dry pigment powder. The pigments I have are like a paint, suspended in something. Heres a pic of the paints I have Finlander, maybe this will help. The bottles are polyethelene & the pigments are in a clear acrylic container.

redg8r
I dont have the name of a site that makes the paint, only an aquaintence out of Tampa: http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=421&highlight=paint Careful, He's a talker
finlander
Talker is an understatement! Had him on the phone twice, half hour each time. Second time he called back, but I was trying to pack a lunch and get ready for work as he talked. Thank goodness I got the wife a new cordless for Christmas or I would have been a half hour late instead of 5 minutes.
