Tierce12
Can someone walk throught the steps on how to fix a rod that has been broken between the tip and the first or second eyes from the tip? Thanks
MTfishingrods
Tierce, Good luck. It can be done, but isnt easy. The hardest part is finding the sleeves you need and having them the right size. Here is a link to the info you need. http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/repair-oquinn.html Make sure that the rod is either worth it monetarily or has sentimental value to you because It will not handle exactly the same as it did before. But it will be fishable and if your careful it might surprise you how well it can turn out. If you cant dig up a chunk of pole with the right taper to work for your repair, email me shane@montanafishingrods.com I have several hundred broken poles I should be able to find something for you. Tierce12
Thanks for the help. I didnt think it would be that much trouble, but the rods I have that are broke aint worth that kind of trouble lol thanks
matt4949
Try reading that. DG Rod Works All you really need to do.It's very easy,if an idiot like me can do it i'm sure you can do it too. It does change your rod action a little bit,but to be honest not enough. I broke one of mine and now i like it even more.It made the rod action seem like an extra fast instead of fast.I've gotten better hooksets now on the rod. I've heard of people buying 7' rods and breaking the first tip down to 6'9" with a faster tip bend.Sounds stupid when i first heard somebody doing this.I can honestly say i understand why now though. I stock up on the rod repair kits just in case it happens again to another rod.It really isn't that hard.
MTfishingrods
What your doing Matt is a lot different than repairing a rod broken as far back as the second eye. Your talking a whole different type of repair job on it, Not just regluing a tip back on.
