muskyswab
hello fishermen, i fly fish many small streams in nj for trout and my rubber waders tore and now i cant fish! Ive been looking into many different kinds of chest waders (because i occasionally fish larger rivers such as the delaware) and i cant decide what to purchase. Im 15 years old so i need something on the cheaper side and i DO NOT WANT RUBBER ANYMORE!! neoprene or breathable? stockingfoot or bootfoot? Please help Thanks guys
kelly
Is it going to be hot when you fish? In my mind a good wader is the most versatile wader. I think a breathable wader with boots on it are the best rout. I have had a lot of neoprenes and they get so hot you just as well be in the water instead of swimming in your sweat. The stocking foot are nice when you are jumping from Boulder to boulder but the boots get to be a pain to put on or tie unless you get the wet. The stocking also where out faster and leak sooner. A breathable wader you can layer pants to keep warm. Good luck.

Travis
I just bought a pair of Frog Toggs Helbender's for around 85 dollars shipped off ebay (NIB). First impression looks like a decent pair of waders, fit was good and light weight. If the waders perform as well as their raingear should be a good purchase. I have used boot foot waders and never liked them and switched to stocking foot rather quickly. Of course that raises costs. I have waded in stocking foot neoprenes for the past 10 years and never found them to be uncomfortable (Red Ball, Red Head, and Cabelas). That includes many 8 hour days in 90+ Edited May 19, 2009 by Travis

ROWINGADUBAY
I use both the neoprene and the breathable and I think it all depends on the tempature you fish. My preference is boot foot with rubber lugs instead of felt soles. If you fish cold water go with the neoprene in a husky or big man size its easier to wear a coat with the waders Also if you go with stocking foot waders make sure to buy wading boots my friend tried to save some money and just wore old shoes and ended up waring holes in the stocking foot. If you go with the breathable the pants type are comfortable and you could wear them when youre running late to class after fishing!!! GOOD LUCK
outdooradvantage
Definatley check E-Bay, I bought a pair of nice insulated Hodgeman Camo waiders for 80 bucks last year. I like them bootless so I went to Wal-Mart and bought a cheap pair of boots for 12 bucks. I use them all the time with no problems I do however turn them over to dry after every use.
