plastic reheat = discolor

Recommended Posts

I am repeatedly reheating some clear LC plastic for dipping and getting a nasty yellow color after 2 or more reheats. This is the new "green" plastic formula 552. I wonder if this formula reacts differently than the regular 502 or if it is from too much heat? I am not using a temp gun, only stirring and seeing how thin it is.

I know I sound like a broken record here but here I go again. I dont know if this will work for you since its only available in soft but the BBCP plastic from bears baits is the clearest I have seen even after multiple reheats in the microwave. But it is only available in soft so its not a tube plastic. Not really sure what your using it for. Maybe it would work if your just using it to seal colors and eyes. Maybe not, just thought I would mention it.:twocents:

When I say multiple reheats I have done 5 to 6 with no color changes.

X2 on the BBCP. I heat with pots and pans and have had the same results. I have reheated it 4 times with no ill affects. MT is correct that it is only in the soft formula. I beleive bearbaits is working on some other formulas that may suit you better than the soft. If a soft texture is what you're after, check it out. Bears Baits
