Zbass
Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a new injector out there and it is great! I spent the day with the injector and some of the molds that are from bearsbaits. Together these products offer a high production system. It is best used with a presto pot or larger pyrex. The reason I say that is because you are going to be going thru the plastic with this system. Here is a link to the galery of some of the baits I shot with the injector and the molds. Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - Injected Baits This pic is of a 7.5" worm, 5.5" lizard and a 5.5" busw bear. The bush bear is an awesome looking bait. Kinda like the brush hog from Zoom but IMO a better bait. All these baits are full round and can't wait to get them in the water. The molds that and injector that are part of this sytem are quality products. There have been some horror stories about injectors blowing apart or blowing back on the user. I don't forsee this happening with this product. It is very user friendly. here is the link to the gallery. Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - Injector and molds The molds are hinged similar to the DO-IT brand of molds for lead. This makes for a really nice mold. I was concerned about them being single cavity. Now that I have used them it make perfect sense. These molds cool faster than any other mold I have. This allows you to demold the baits on average in under 1 minute. That is even when the mold is hot from multiple pours. I hope everyone will take the time to check these out. For the guy's that have webstores or sell to tackle stores, you owe it to yourself to check these out. It will save you time and money. here is a link to bearsbaits. Zbass
Also want to add that the injector also makes it possible to od the mold that just will not hand pour. I have read the threads that guys have posted about some molds, no matter what they try, they just won't pour. This is the solution. If the sprue is big enough or can be modified to become big enough, this injector will shoot the mold with no problems. Check them out. outdooradvantage
I agree with all of the above Z. Also I use the injector on a 5 in. grub mold from Lure Craft that would normally be a 2 part pour. Tail first then close mold and then pour body. What a waiste of time. Not to mention you have to trim them also. With the injector 1 shot 1 full grub no trimming. Should work on any two part pour mold. As far as safety goes I would just recomend a good pair of gloves. COBRA
not knocking it at all because it is cool, but looks like the amount of plastic it holds and sprue size would mean a lot of reloading? i want to see the pricing also cause to really fly you would want a lot of molds and i am sure those are pricey? Zbass
Cobra, That all depends on how many you want to make. I have 1 brush mold, 2 lizard molds. In a matter of ten minutes I can make about 20 lizards and 10 brushes. When i get the other 2 brush molds then it wil be game on. As far as the pricing, I think I put the link to bearbaits in the original post. The reason I say to modify the sprue is so that you dont have to top off. Having to go back and top off only slows you down. The amount of plastic in the sprue is not that much, besides you cut it off and throw it back in the pot an keep going. These are just my opinions and if you really want to check them out, go to www.bearsbaits.com
MTfishingrods
Cobra, The other interesting thing is these molds are designed to cool very rapidly. Which means your not sitting around waiting for baits to cool down like you may have been in the past. Bear can give better examples of this than I can, but you can make some pretty rapid progress even without a bunch of molds because of this. Zbass
Thanks MT. That is what I meant but couldn't find the words.
COBRA
molds-not as expensive as i thought, now what do you do, siphon the plastic into the syringe then go to town?
Zbass
Yes Cobra, itis kinda like a bicycle pump of sorts. You pull the plastic in with the plunger and then you are shooting baits. Really cool!
RHayes71
Noticed that the nozzle is held onto the barrel of the injector with a rubber O ring. Is this a tight enough seal to keep the nozzle from popping off if to much pressure is applied to the plunger? Wouldn't a threaded nozzle be safer? Zbass
It does not take much pressure at all to inject the baits. It is a little more than placing your hand on the plunger and SLIGHT pressure is applied. You shouldn't be pressing the plunger down unless you have the nozzle in the mold. I have the medium size injector. The large size injector I beleive has a threaded nozzle. That is just due to the 5.5 to 6 oz of plastic that it holds. It is safe but a little common sense will go a long ways. You will want to wear gloves, safety glasses and long sleeves just in case. They have some hot mill gloves over there for $5 and the y are well worth it. Hope that helps.
Zbass
Oh, forgot to add that the nozzle design is also to aid in the speed of the operation. If you get an extra nozzle then you will be able to shoot faster. When the first load is done, then you remove that nozzle and insert the second one and continue shooting.
