foxbites
has any one used loctite epoxy? I was at wal-mart today and saw this brand of epoxy. It is where the devcon 2t epoxy use to be. There was a 7min. and a 5min. both of witch say they have a 20 min. working time.
now thats a fish
For a top coat?? I believe it doesn't cure 100% clear. I've stayed away from it. Eric
atrophius
Yeah, it does dry yellow. I have only used it for inserting screw eyes. I works good for that.
Husky
The D2T at Wally World was a good deal, but if you do the math, the 9 oz deals you can find are better than even the $1.97 price per oz. Instead of experimenting, wasting time and money, just order the least expensive 9 oz kit of D2T you can find.
balsa butcher
I tried it and don't like it. It's also expensive. I shop around on the internet for the best Devcon pricing I can find then buy several at a time to try to minimize the shipping cost per tube. pizza
just to confirm what others have said. It does not cure clear. At all. I just learned the hard way. Try true value hardware if you want to find D2T or etex locally.
CheapTrix
Yep, Loc-tite cures yellow.....but as an alternative, try Menards brand Power Poxy for Pros 30 minute. I have been experimenting with it and really like the results as an alternative to D2T. It seems to be about the same. You can also buy it in larger quantities than the tubes for about $10. Try it and let me know what you think.
Sonny.Barile
Loctite 5 minute is not water proof. It is water resistant. It wont hold up to heavy use as it will get gummy. Also be carefull of which version of the 5 minute you get if you want to use it for eyelets. The one that is in yellow packaging is really for use as an adhesive for plastics and wont be verry strong. I have been successful using Loctite Marine epoxy for filling weight holes , misplaced gouges, and holding eyelets, but it takes an hour or longer to cure. It is very thick and gray in color.
