Well seamonkey, welcome to the madness. A kit is always a good place to start. You get everything you need to start making baits right away. The kit you get should depend on how you like to fish. Stick baits are very popular and easy to pour. Some of our members and advertisers have kits available or they can put basic componants together for you in kit form. Good luch and have lots of fun.

thanks for the advise. if its soft plastic i'll throw it. everything from frogs, flukes to critters on the bottom! i've done alot of art with casting and pouring so i can just see my biggest problem will be the colorin process cause i like the two and three tones like baby bass. so i guess this will be an adventure for sure.... and i cant wait!
