Larry Dahlberg Stikes Again

Recommended Posts

I was watching an episode where Larry stretches some mylar cord over a spoon type bait he made and 8O the lightbulb flickered. I sent for some of the stuff and here is what happend. I have seen variations of this before, but not with para cord.

  1. I threaded the hollow rope like mylar onto a leadhead and tied it on.
  2. Then I brushed the other end with a nylon bore brush to unravel the weave.

The result was pretty cool. You can leave the body as long as you like or unravel it all. It is alot, alot, alot easier to tie than hair or individual strans of mylar or flashabou. The stuff comes on differnt sizes and colors.

Then I did the same with the casing on parachute cord after pulling out the inner fillaments. It also comes in several colors. The parachute cord brushes out into extremely fine fibers and it's cheap too.

All you need is the material itself, some leadheads and thread. On these I used nail polish to seal the wraps. Going to try them out this weekend.

The green one in the lower center of the last pic is the parachute cord.

I got a little too excited there and pulled the trigger before thinking:roll:....My initial thought was to reverse it, to get a fuller body, like on a spinnerbait! Oops...that won't work, I think:sauced:

Anyways....great idea!

:yay:

That should work if you brush out the tail before you thread it on the hook backwards.

To me it looks like he leaves plenty of cord unbrushed, and that's the part that's threaded on and tied.

So.....where did you find the material?
