MarcDavidBaits
First off, should I add softener to Bear's BBCP Soft Plastic, or is it soft enough (it's for stickbaits)? Next, is it better to add your glitter/color before or after you heat the plastic? Thanks guys
Bass-Boys
I would say that the soft plastic should be soft enough.. but just an opinion,, you should be able to add salt and it should still be soft. if you are using coloring powders add to cold plastic.. if its liquid,, add any time.. I add it early in the heat cycle I add the glitter after the plastic is close to temp..
outdooradvantage
No you dont need softner for Bears Soft plastic. I dont add any, they are soft enough. I add my color before I cook and the glitter after. Hope this helps.
JDBaits
Not sure about bears plastic but IMO all plastic needs softner since I like my personal baits as soft as possible without flying off the hook on the first cast. On the colors issue I like to add mine in cooked plastic when developing a color and before cooking when I have a recipe. Glitter I always add in about 270 degree plastic to reduce the number of times it is reheated. Hope this info helps, good luck!
Long Lake Lures
FYI when using LC fluorescent liquid coloring, you need to add it to cold plastic, otherwise it will clot and ruin the batch. Hope this helps, Dave
pastorshane
FYI when using LC fluorescent liquid coloring, you need to add it to cold plastic, otherwise it will clot and ruin the batch. Hope this helps, Dave I think this is true of all fluorescent colors. I add all color before heating.( In less im working on matching a color). I always add salt before heat I think it helps with keeping the bubbles to a minimum. Just remember to stir alot.
