60 or 90 degree jig hooks?

Recommended Posts

northsea,

The 90 degree hooks are generally used on the more traditional leadheads and other jigs that call for a thin wire hook. The 60 degree hooks are usually heavy wire and are used in flipping jigs, grass jigs and such. Because the line tie is more forward it is designed to come through obstacles better and not pick-up as much debris. It also gives you a straighter pull and debatably better hooksets in heavy cover situations.

A good source for comparison is the Barlow's catalog, it has images of the hooks and gives wire size and online, it shows alternate hooks will fit the mold. Hope this helps.
