northsea
Hi there, wondering if you could advise me on angle of jig hook to use please? I notice you can now readily get 60 degree jig hooks. Are there any significant advantages using these instead of the regular 90 degree? Any comment on this greatfully received. Chris
Basseducer
northsea, The 90 degree hooks are generally used on the more traditional leadheads and other jigs that call for a thin wire hook. The 60 degree hooks are usually heavy wire and are used in flipping jigs, grass jigs and such. Because the line tie is more forward it is designed to come through obstacles better and not pick-up as much debris. It also gives you a straighter pull and debatably better hooksets in heavy cover situations. A good source for comparison is the Barlow's catalog, it has images of the hooks and gives wire size and online, it shows alternate hooks will fit the mold. Hope this helps. northsea
Thank you Basseducer that clears things up nicely for me. I'm going to go with the 60 degree having considered your input. Many thanks again.
