smalljaw
You need to give more info such as where the blade is located, is it the main blade attched to the wire by a swivel or is it the bottom blade that is on the wire by means of a clevis? Colorado blades spin easier than any other blade and the wire should have nothing to do with it unless it is on with a clevis which I would then tell you that the clevis is not the right size or if it's the main blade then you have a swivel that isn't working, other than that I would need some more info. floatfly
it is the main blade attacheed by a swivel and the only blade. it is a 5/8 ounce sb. it could be a swivel issue but they all seem to do it. they will spin but not as free as the ones on the .040 wires. so could my problem be with the wire? and do you know of a good place to buy the swivels they are expensive everywhere i have looked. thanks for the info. smalljaw
I don't see the wire being an issue especially if it's a single spin lure, it has to be the swivel. What I think is happening is the larger diameter wire isn't flexing as much so the resistance at the swivel is less but the smaller diameter wire flexs much more and this puts a little more pressure on the swivel. Try different swivels and see what happens, as for getting them cheap you're out of luck, I use Worth BB swivels and I cut down the cost by buying the swivels without the split rings attached, it's a little more work putting split rings on the swivel but it's cheaper for sure. JSC
Sounds to me like you are not "Feeling" the vibration of the spinner with the heavier wire. The lighter the wire the more vibration and gives you the sensation it is spinning better. My JSC

smalljaw
Floatfly, a 5/8oz spinnerbait with a #5 colorado blade should have a size 3 swivel at least.
