paintallbaits01
Stencil or freehand ? I want to do a smallmouth bass pattern, different than the one in the link, but with the same type of template? The lines on the face are really what i'm asking about, I can do stencils for the side lines, but the smaller ones are confusing me. Thanks all & ps this is not one of my lures, I don't know how it stands as posting ebay messages. Vodkaman
ebay links are frowned on, because they are only temporary, so anyone reading this thread in the future will be wasting their time. Pretty lure, looks like carving to me. Dave
mark poulson
The cheek stripes look free hand to me. If you want to make a stencil, it probably won't look as "erratic", since it's hard to duplicate tiny details with stencils.
Fish Candy Bait Company
I would trace the outline on a neswprint sketch pad first. Then I would try to freehand it with the air and paint mix lowered. Being new to painting that may not be the right way to do it but I would try that first. rlcam
I looked at the other baits he has on there and the stripes and splatters look to me like he may have use a sponge or something similar. You might could take a small sponge dip it in paint, kinda blot it off on paper and lightly touch the bait in a line with just the corner of the sponge. That may sound totally stupid but thats what came to my pea brain at first glance...Rob
