SIUBASSER
Hey guys, I was on Tackle Warehouse today and ran accross the Lee Production Pot IV. It looks like a good pot for general jig pouring, but then i noticed they said this " The Do-It Lead Melting Lee Production Pot IV features adjustable heat control, which also allows you to use it for melting and creating your own soft plastics." I was like ? Is this a realistic statement, or would you guys not recommend this. If so what temp setting would you recommend i put it at to not burn the plastic. Thanks Richard

SIUBASSER
Yea that's kinda what i figured. I just don't have enough molds to justify buying a presto pot yet. Seems like it would take a lot of plastic. Hmm well ill still get it for pouring jigs. Thanks Richard
rxfish
I use these pots and agree the heat controls are not reliable at all, but with some practice they can be controlled. First I use a thermometer in the pot that tells me when the temp is rising and second I keep the pots as full as possible which keeps the temperature at a more predictable setting. I called Lee about these thermostats and like everything else they are made out of the country and Lee has no control on how they are made. According to them the quality has gone down the toilet. But for them there apparently is no other option. Personally I still think its the best option if your not making a ton of baits.

Romeo D
Just so you know, unless they made a major change, there are 2 versions of the Lee Production pot. One for Plastic and one for Lead. I have both versions. I would hate for you to think you could use the Lead version for Plastic. They usually label the plastic version as such. Presto Pots are the way to go, Awesome temperature control and the new pots are slightly smaller now, add a mixer and you got one awesome setup. 96dak
you dont need to be running huge production to use a presto, i have used mine with as little as 2 cups with no problem.
