Artificial All The Way
I’m mixing several colors together to come up with cool colors no one has, will be a PIA to copy, and fish must like. Wasting plastic like crazy making several similar colors waiting to see that next one that says I’m it. First it has to impress me and then if it doesn’t impress the fish I start again. I know most lures are made to catch fishermen and not fish. Pretty colors and packaging do not put fish on the hook. There is one reason and one reason only I make my own lures and that is to hook fish. Now after all the 7 color mixes I’ve played with I get my new Gold High Lite and Gold Flake from Bears along with some molds. They stood on my bench in front of me as I was thinking of what to try next. Was planning on casting for Stripers so big plastics are what I’m pouring. Figured I needed to know what the gold came out like so, half tsp high lite and a half a flake in 2 cups of plastic. That’s it. I never add the high lites or flakes prior to heating. Always after the plastic is up to temp. Picture doesn’t show the real color. You need to hold one and move it around to get the full effect. Obviously the fish liked it. Few shots of my testing them out. Def a keeper color that catches keepers (28” or more here in CT). White, pearl white, ice white, and a mix of any and all of the above have been producing trohpy fish results for me for years. This new gold has out fished all my go to colors each time out. If you are a Striper nut like me Merry Christmas. Use this color. It has caught more 40 inch plus stripers in the last 3 weeks than you could imagine. Lots of smaller fish as well but the big ones can't seem to leave this color alone. It took the only big fish caught with 12 of us fishing. Only my boat had this color. I gave some out after we killed them.
Husky
I don't see what's so special about that color. Nice catching!

Artificial All The Way
Here's some of the colrs the Gold was tested against. These have all produced fish. Funny. I was just looking at some of the pics I took this past weekend. My buddy Doug all hooded up. It was 42 degrees in the morn. Same day we're in shorts in the 70's with bare feet. Right now as I look behind me the first ugly frozen flakes are falling in CT. Shoot me. Artificial All The Way
Gee thanks Jim. I HATE THE COLD!!!! Making up a package with new pole, reel, and loaded bag for my son in FL.In the 80's there as well. All his new friends want my lures. More freebies going. Costing me 40G's to have him live where I want to for school. What a crock that is. Man I need a time machine.

nfollmer
Lovely colors, but more importantly - awesome fish! I'm not much of a striper fisherman, but would love to get into it (really no good striper waters in PA, except for Raystown). BTW, all you guys talking about great weather down south, I HATE YOU! It snowed here today, we got maybe a good 2 inches (if it ALL would have laid). So much for the fall bite...Walleye time I guess.
Artificial All The Way
My son just started at Florida Southern College located on Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland. Fishing right outside his dorm. Now I just have to hope my last 2 leaving in the next 3 and then 5yrs go some place warm. I'm out of this frozen tax you to death state to become that drunken fisherman I have always wanted to be when I grew up.
Gator44
Impressive results! I live in RI and the top water casting for strippers has really declined this year. I'm glad someone still has good top water fishing. I've got a couple of questions on the new HOT lure. Is it a 9" Slug go you are using or is it smaller? The color looks like pearl white with a golden tinge. Is that about right or is the true color distorted in your picture? It's amazing you got that color from just flake and hi lite. I need to get some gold hi lite and try it. When you rig with a single hook in the nose, do you have any trouble with the Slug go tearing when you cast? With your single hook rig, do you find that the Strippers suck in the whole bait from behind, or do they hit it from the front/side? Thanks for your help. Artificial All The Way
Impressive results! Thanks. Been hunting for stripers up there for years. I live in RI and the top water casting for strippers has really declined this year. From what I'm seeing bait patterns have changed. It's a new game one yr to the next. Adjusting to the fish/bait is a must. If you stick to what worked last yr you're not hooking this yr. I'm glad someone still has good top water fishing. I fish mostly in waters less then 15 foot deep when weightless plastics are used. Close to deeper waters, all around rocks, and shore lines that hold structure and or current. I've got a couple of questions on the new HOT lure. Is it a 9" Slug go you are using or is it smaller? That pic is a 9". I use from 16" to 3" sluggo's. I start with a 10 or 11" even if smaller bait is around. I find the larger lures trigger the large lazier fish to feed and that's what I want to hook. If short hits (really just a rise playing not hitting, just checking it out) I'll drop down in size. Albies Sunday wanted nothing to do with anything large. Inch and a half was the bait they were eating. I bit a 6" sluggo in half and put it on a 5/0 hook. Couldn't keep it in the water. The Stripers smashed the 16" sluggo's. They were all feeding in the same area on the same bait. FF showed clouds or porgies under the smaller bait. Only reason I can guess the Stripers wanted bigger. The color looks like pearl white with a golden tinge. Is that about right or is the true color distorted in your picture? It's amazing you got that color from just flake and hi lite. I need to get some gold hi lite and try it. The pic sucks. It's just gold high lite and gold flake. The gold does make it like peal a little. The 4 guys I handed some lures to confirmed my findings. Now I need to wait for spring to see if this is just a fall color or is it a feeding trigger color. When you rig with a single hook in the nose, do you have any trouble with the Slug go tearing when you cast? Yes. not a lot. If your bail closes or something it's flying solo. I double dip the heads some times. I'm now adding crap like fiberglass mating testing some other methods. I've caught several bass on the same one many times.Blues are the bigger problem for keeping lures on. With your single hook rig, do you find that the Strippers suck in the whole bait from behind, or do they hit it from the front/side? This is a major question I get from many. Bass have no teeth. If they half way did anything they would go hungry. They don
