Potter
Alright guys I'm doing great with the mic, but I finally got me aluminum mold and I'm having problems with it. It pours great, but I get alot of imperfections in the worms. Like small indentions and spots that look like air bubbles popped. I tried to preheat the mold and still got them, is my mold getting to hot you think? Seems like the more I pour the worst they get. Thanks for all the help. I'm hooked now. Potter
I forgot to add I'm trying to make stik baits so I'm using salt too.
Richard Prager
Are bubbles coming up to the surface in the Pyrex before you pour?
Potter
Haven't done that, but I'm also having to stir like crazy because of the salt. I'll try that next time and see if it makes a difference.
Richard Prager
If you are getting bubbles then you are pouring them in. It's possible you are getting the plastic too hot too fast......or you are shaking the heck out of the container an putting the bubbles in the plastisol before you even start. If you see a bunch of bubbles coming up, stir for a bit and nuke for another 15 or 20 seconds. This will thin the plastic and allow the remaining bubbles to rise to the surface as you stir some more. Stir, don't whip and if you have one, use a metal butter knife.
mradamh
Agreee with the other tips posted...another helpful tip is to use a small heat torch and burn those bubbles off once they hit the surface. If you're at the right temp and have them, let that plastic sit for a few to allow all the bubbles to surface, then very lightly graze them with the flame...poof! they'll be gone. Good luck Adam
Vodkaman
Their was a huge thread on dents back in January, probably worth reading: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/soft-plastics/15558-dents-5.html Dave
nfollmer
I haven't poured anything yet but have been reading a lot (that and I am waiting until my molds are cut). But I was thinking about air bubbles and I had an idea.... Would vibrating either your pyrex cup OR the mold as the lure cools remove the bubbles? I was just wondering because I have some old motors from an xbox controller (the ones that make them rumble) and I have been wondering what I could do with them... Just a thought

Adam, your prices are ridiculously high on your website! 7.29 for 10 senko styles!
mradamh
Thanks BBK...I appreciate that open attack on this internet forum. Guess I'll just give my plastics away and ship them for free to all my customers. I should also tell them to quit buying them at that price and forward them a link to your post. Leave me alone BBK, it's like you're a stalker. PM's, emails, forum attacks.....enough. ps...the baits are $4.99 per 10 pack. So please quit posting lies....thank you. Vodkaman
Outragous post BBK. What business is it of yours or any ones, what mradamh or anyone charges for their work. Certainly not the subject for a public forum. If you have a personal issue, use the pm system. Dave

redg8r
easy....easy, fellas, looks like a simple misunderstanding. obviously some history here, but lets keep discussions on topic. Appreciate the cooperation. My opinion...... "stir like crazy" usually makes bubbles, you mentioned "popped" bubbles.... in a stick mold?? is this a 2-piece mold right? Delw
Oh I have to add something to this, Adam if you were selling stiks for that price your one of the smartest people around. here why. going rate for a bag of org senkos is around 7bucks, people are makeing custom stik baits, why should someone charge less than factory produced baits? I mean think about it guys. you can buy stiks for xxx, hand poured stiks are in colors that are not offered and in some case's will hold up to 3-5 times the amount of fish, why should you sell them cheaper? your just ripping yourself off. On a side note I know a guy that sells a 10 pack of stik baits in 4 or 5" for 10 bucks thats a buck a piece., he has been doing it for years, sells to some of the top pro;s. he only sells colors that Yamamoto doesnt have and has different weights for them( the formula he uses) BTW he is also on this forum and has been for years and he keeps very busy. He may mention it in this thread or not thats up to him. guess what I am trying to say is dont sell your self short, some of you guys do some awsume work, people will pay for it.. DanW
As far as price goes, it's what's someone is willing to pay. I'm getting $2 a tube for my baits. Yes, you can't but anything like them, and there is a lot of plastic in one tube, and nobody makes a tube in the size and colors I'm making. It's all about supply and demand.
