I'm sure you will now send me to the wonderful help forums, which will pull up a ton of info I don't need. There are a multitude of them. Dick is not currently selling his top coat due to the fact that one of his suppliers no longer will supply him with one of the ingredients. I guess I will give it a try since I never received the Dick Nites I ordered about 6 weeks ago, which is odd since I spoke to Dick directly on the phone to place the order (he seemed very nice). RayburnGuy Posted October 27, 2009 Report Share Posted October 27, 2009 I'm not sure that I have a preference yet Keys. I'm still trying different coatings and trying to decide which I like. I like the finish and the ease of applying the Dick Nites. Love that I can dip it and just hang it up to dry, and that it cures to the touch in a couple hours. The storage problems can be a bit of a pain. Bloxygen can be used to keep the DN fresh, but it's a little expensive when your only painting one or two baits at a time. Some are using a screw placed in the bottom of the DN can as a sort of tap, but doing it this way you have to brush the coating on and I prefer dipping. And the fact remains that the DN is unavailable at the moment. Have tried E-tex and it can be a little fussy about mixing and it takes a long time to cure. Have just received some Devcon 2-ton and will be trying it next. So as you can see I'm still looking for the topcoat that best suits my needs and wants. There are hundreds of topcoats on the market and not all are suited to what tacklebuilders need. About all I can recommend is research what the people here at TU are using and maybe read up on some different finishes online and then pick one and try it. The topcoat that one person swears by may not suit what your wanting to do with it or how your wanting to do it. Hope this helps.
