Erick
Alright did my first round ever of airbrush work on my baits and it went so so......They baits turned out awsome for looks and what not but the issue is the paint never did set and i could peel it back with a thumbnail slightly. I am painting blades metal/lead i scuffed it an also added a coat of adhesive to help it stick. I did not cure each color after every coat of paint I gave it a shot of the heat gun at the end not sure how long I need to cure them for. Or should i give up on the createx water based air brush paint and try the model ennamel paint I have and add some thinner an airbrush with that instead? Any input would be awsome i am very very new to this and trying to establish the paint ennamel, acrylic, ect type paint i need to begin with! mercury97
What are you clearing the baits with? The createx dries fast but, yes it will scratch if its just bare paint

BobP
Createx is just water based paint, like interior latex paint, only formulated so it will run through an airbrush. I has almost no durability until you clearcoat it with a clear topcoat like epoxy or polyurethane. Then its durable as long as the topcoat holds. Enamel is a little more durable but not enough for baits. JMHO, I don't want a lot of finish build up on blades because it increases the weight and makes the blade harder to spin. I spray on a primer coat of white acrylic latex, then the acrylic color, then dip them in polyurethane (Dick Nite moisture cured polyurethane lure topcoat). Epoxy works OK but it adds lots of weight to a blade and it also draws away from the sharp edges while curing, leaving the paint to erode there.
